16-weeks pregnant
Thanks to my subscription at
babycenter.com. I'm getting constant updates on my pregnancy.
Your pregnancy: 16 weeksAt 4 1/2 inches long (head to bottom) and 3 1/2 ounces, your baby is
about the size of an avocado. In the next three weeks, she'll go through a tremendous growth spurt, though, doubling her weight and adding inches to her length. Her lower limbs are much more developed now. Her head is more erect than it has been, and her eyes have moved toward the front of her head. Your baby's ears are close to their final position, too. Some of her more advanced body systems are working, including her circulatory system and urinary tract. Her heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, circulating her total blood volume through her body many times. (By the end of your pregnancy, this will increase to about 190 quarts.) The patterning of her scalp has begun, though her hair isn't recognizable yet. Although closed, her eyes are moving (slowly), and she's even started growing toenails.
*** Update
I just had another ultrasound. Some of my friends were surprised that at 16 weeks, I already had 2 ultrasound session. I can't help it. I was so worried about the spotting that I experienced on my 12th week. I had to make sure that baby is growing fine. Last Monday, I had my monthly check up with my Cavite-based OB GYN. I was asked a lot of questions and I was relieved that I am doing OK. When I had my first ultrasound, baby is so little that I couldn't see him in the ultrasoun. It seems like he is sleeping. But this week, my heart was over filled with joy when I saw him moving (sooO likot!) and it looked like he is waving his hands to me. Pasaway lang. When it was finally the moment that my doctor captured a photo of the ultrasound, he abruptly turned his back! (though his one hand is still raised) Hahahahaha! How I wish I could post the ultrasound picture today. I am in the office as of the moment so perhaps, I will only be able to upload it once I get to home.

Girl or Boy?
Most of the people I talked to say that I'm gonna have a baby girl. Even hubby says the same thing. I told him that if it's a girl, it's his "pambayad utang." for all the naughtiness he did when he was still single. LOL
I still have to get a gender ultrasound. I'm planning to have it 4D'd sometime in June. I just hope that the ultrasound will say otherwise.Labels: mommy talks

At 14 Weeks
Time really flies so fast. And my subscription at babycenter.com is really helpful. Today, I found out the following progress on our little peanut.
How your baby's growing:
This week's big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb.
In other news: Your baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces. His body's growing faster than his head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, his arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of his body. (His legs still have some lengthening to do.) He's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over his body. Your baby's liver starts making bile this week — a sign that it's doing its job right — and his spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells. Though you can't feel his tiny punches and kicks yet, your little pugilist's hands and feet (which now measure about 1/2 inch long) are more flexible and active.
*** Lurky lang. When I announced that I am pregnant, it seems na biglang laki ng tyan ko. But at 3 and 1/2 months, many people say na maliit daw tummy ko..hayyYyy!Labels: mommy vents
